Product Description

We decided to do is to take our combined 40 years of experience and the pros of each material to develop a composite model that flies and feels like a 50 – 60cc that is able to take the abuse of XA 3D flight and have the strength and agility to withstand substantial G loads with no structural damage. Weight was always a priority, as we also wanted a light wing loading that would allow lower stall speeds and great low speed stability and handling. Many prototypes were made with fine tweaking between each one until we reached our end design. A 57” Composite model that excels in all regimes of flight, be it 3D, precision or slow stable flight.....it truly flies and feels like no other with an all up weight of 1620g (including a 3S 2250 LiPo).

Cowl And Canopy

Once we were happy with the flying characteristics, we worked on functionality and looks and that meant the cowl and canopy needed to be constructed to give a graceful and scale finish so we designed a plastic cowl that is made of High Impact Plastic that is practically unbreakable and a scale clear canopy that allows for easy access to the electronics.

Landing Gear

We had many options on the table regarding the landing gear such as wire or aluminum gear which would have worked well but we wanted only the best so we went ahead and manufactured ultra light high strength air foiled carbon gear with fiberglass wheel pants and 2.2” plastic hubs foam wheels that not only add to the muscular appearance of the plane but have reduced drag and incredible strength.

Surface Deflections

Since the aircraft was designed primarily for XA 3D we made sure that all surfaces would provide up to 50 degrees of deflection making the Slick 560 capable of any XA 3D, however on low rates and slow speeds the plane will be as forgiving as a trainer making it an ideal choice for both the seasoned professional and the new to 3D flyer.

Motor Choice

Our goal was to achieve an aircraft that would hover at 50% power and skyrocket to the stratosphere with a 3S 2000+ mAmp High Discharge LiPo. We tested various motor/prop combos and came to the conclusion that we needed to make our own custom motor to provide the exact specs we desired. We developed the RC Gadgetz (RCG) X 3120 KV 1100 which is ideally suited to run on a High Discharge (50C or more) 3S 2200+ mAmp Lipo with a 14x7 prop or run on a High Discharge (50C or more) 4S 2200+ mAmp Lipo with a 13X6.5 prop. We personally like the 3S setup more.

Servo Choice

That was a tough one, with so many brands out there and crazy prices that promised incredible specs that in the end, just didn’t meet up to our expectations. What we needed was a digital high speed, high torque servo with metal gear that had excellent centering, so we decided to make our own HV that would be specifically tailored to our needs. We worked very closely for a few months with one of the biggest servo factories in China to come up with our Digital Metal Gear, double ball bearing RCG HV 4810 that boasts a 3.5 Kg/cm and a speed of 0.09 @8V, a perfectly matched servo that will provide amazing flight response and a locked in feel. To complement our servos we couldn’t resist but to make our own custom CNC RCG Aluminum arms that provide a 1:1 ratio, giving the perfect mechanical advantage.

RCG Commander ESC

In line with our servo specs, we designed the RCG Commander ESC to provide a BEC of 8v/5amps to give you un-matched performance. We also provide a dedicated LED light extension to provide direct voltage to the light system. The ESC has been engineered to handle up to 4s with a burst current of 80amps, perfectly matched for all the electronics under the hood.

LED (Night Crawler Feature)

We have incorporated LED’s into the whole airframe, making it light up the skies when flying at night, in addition to the complete airframe being lit we have installed directional control green and red LED’s (navigation lights), this way losing orientation will be a thing of the past.

This plane has been designed and engineered by pilots who demand the very best.

The aircraft comes fully equipped with all electronics, all that’s left for the pilot is:

  • Bolt on the prop
  • Bolt on the gear
  • Bolt on the elevator
  • Glue the rudder
  • And that’s that, plug in the RX and a battery and go fly !
